Welcome!
Our English courses are designed to give students ample opportunities to read, write, talk, and think. We will strive to learn new ways of thinking, writing, and communicating. We will spend a majority of our time reading and analyzing literature, using different writing forms to improve our written expression, and collaborating in groups to plan projects and discuss our literature and writing. We will place special emphasis on critical thinking, oral communication, and using varied writing forms. Our focus will be on uncovering the relationship between literature and humanity--comprehending and articulating the author’s purpose to, not only improve our understanding of society as a whole, but to connect and relate to our own lives as well. By the time we are finished, we will be able to read literature critically, express our interpretations and opinions in various oral and written forms, speak confidently about what we read and hear, and work effectively in a group situation.
